Current Research Projects
NRC AI for Design Challenge Program : AI for precision discovery on associations in biological systems, 2020-2023, Collaborator: Dr. Gary Bader.
The objective of this project is to design AI-based approaches for quantitative exploration of the single-cell ‘omics big data, build precise associations between different omics data and phenotypes in cell-type specific way as well as linking genotypes to different phenotypes through single-cell CRISPR screening data.NRC AI for Design Challenge Program : AI powered design of stem cell therapy for degenerative muscle diseases, 2021-2023, Collaborators: Dr. Theodore Perkins, Dr. Jeffrey Dilworth and Dr. Michael Rudnicki.
This study will focus on population-dynamic models (simulations) of skeletal muscle regeneration and gene regulatory networks as well as the cell-cell communications involved in this particular process using AI-driven approaches.NRC Aging in Place Challenge Program : Early detection of cognitive decline using epigenetic biomarkers in peripheral blood, 2021-2024, Collaborators: Dr. Mathieu Blanchette and Dr. Celia Greenwood .
The goal of this study is to develop a machine learning or deep learning based predictive model using peripheral blood epigenetic (particularly DNA methylation) biomarkers for the early detection of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and other dementias..NRC Digital Health and Geospatial Analytics Program : Discovery of single-cell omics biomarkers in alveolar macrophages for immunotherapy of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, 2022-2025, Collaborator: Dr. Xuekui Zhang.
This project will develop digital technologies to discover alveolar macrophages biomarkers for novel chronic obstructive pulmonary disease therapy (COPD) by integrating both bulk and single cell omics data. The project will demonstrate the translational capabilities of single-cell ‘omics technologies and provide biomarker candidates for immunotherapy of COPD.
Completed Research Projects
National Natural Science Foundation of China : Dynamic Analysis of DNA Methylation Pattern Heterogeneity during Cell Differentiation and Reprogramming, 2013-2015.
This study aims to develop novel bioinformatics approach to assess DNA methylation variations for a large number of genomic loci in different cell populations, including stem cells, iPSCs and differentiated cells.National Natural Science Foundation of China : Genome-wide Analysis on Interaction Mechanism of DNA Methylation and Histone H3K79 Methylation in MLL-ENL Leukemia. 2013-2015.
The objective of this study is to investigate the interaction mechanism of DNA methylation and histone methylation in a subtype of Leukemia – MLL-ENL leukemia, using genome-wide sequencing data.
